I have had so many people around me struggling with various winter illnesses so I thought I would share with you all the 7 essential oils keeping my immune system healthy!

As most of you will already know, I’m not one to race off to the Dr before exhausting every avenue of natural healing and I am happy to say I have not had any illness this winter (touch wood), even though I’ve been surrounded by others with various flu’s, gastro bugs and colds.

Those of you who are clients of mine already would have noticed the range of “doTerra essential oils” I have on the shelf and the beautiful smell that is always present in my home.  I know some of you already use doTerra oils and get the benefits from them but some of you have also asked me what to use them for, so here are a few great ways to use the oils that I have found work for me and my loved ones.



On Guard, the Protective Blend – it contains high anti-bacterial properties, so it’s great for anything immune related; and can also be made into cleaning products such as surface spray, hand sanitiser and hand soap. This blend also comes in a cleaner concentrate which is fantastic for cleaning virtually anything and soaking soiled clothes. I put On Guard on the bottom of my feet every night and again in the morning after a shower. I also diffuse On Guard the bedroom through the night which helps to deal with air born germs. Read more about On Guard ….


Breathe, the Clear Blend – for anything to do with respiratory support and is also great for opening the airways. If anyone is congested, I pop 1-2 drops in the diffuser at night and this will assist in a more peaceful sleep. This oil blend can also be rubbed on the feet.  Put a pair of socks on to prevent the oil from touching the sheets.  I will also place it undiluted on the bone behind my ears which helps to clear my Eustachian tubes.  You can put this on children also, however I recommend diluting it with fractionated coconut oil first.  Read more about Breathe …



Digestzen, the Digestive Blend – for anything tummy and digestive related. I rub this blend into my tummy, if I’m feeling a little ‘off’ or bloated and I swear within 30 minutes, tops, I feel so much better.  You can do it again 30 minutes later if you need to. Lavender Peace (aka Serenity), the Calming Blend.  This blend is great to help with getting a good night’s sleep. Apply some to the forehead 30mins before bedtime,or just add 1 drop in the diffuser at night. You can make it up in a roller bottle and rub on the bottom of the feet also, which is quite lovely. Frankincense is an amazing oil, and my #1 go to when I’m not sure what to use. It’s great for everything – I add it to all of my blends! Frankincense is able to re-oxygenate the brain, so it’s great for any head related things like an injury from a fall or a sprain or bruise and it will also help to heal the skin. Lavender – You may know this oil just for its relaxation properties, but is also great for any skin issues. I also use lavender on cuts and scrapes along with frankincense.  The health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the scalp and skin, enhance blood circulation and treat respiratory problems.  Read more about Lavender ….



Peppermint – great for cooling.   You can use peppermint oil topically, aromatically and internally (make sure it is pure therapeutic grade, as it is the only peppermint oil that is safe for ingestion), depending on your needs.
